A huge thank you to all the children for their super work at home. Our new e-mail address (email@example.com) has been a great success. So please email in photographs of your creations for world ocean day to add to our school gallery this week!
It was wonderful today to welcome back our year six children who were able to return in a safe and planned way to Gig Mill. Whilst there were a few nerves at the start of the day, by the end of the day there were smiles, so a huge thank you to all staff who have been working for several weeks to make this happen.
The key worker children here for the past ten weeks continue to be with us, and the number of allocated places are prioritised (as per government guidance).
We will continue to keep you updated via text messages, this website and email. Should you need to contact school, where possible please use firstname.lastname@example.org. Pupils in year one and reception will hopefully re-join school over the following weeks and at each step, the process will need to be carefully managed to ensure the safety and well-being of all the pupils, parents and staff.
We are all trying our very best to support children both in school and at home in these challenging times. Many thanks for your continuing support. Take care and stay safe.

Year Six Parents and Carers
It has been lovely to speak to many of you during the past two weeks. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to respond to the survey about a possible return to school and careful consideration about the right decision for your child and your family.
Following a positive or 'maybe' response many of you had questions regarding the detailed risk assessment, which we have endeavoured to answer.
Whether your child remains at home and will be accessing home learning, or may have been in school accessing childcare for critical key workers for the past ten weeks, or has been allocated a year 6 place to return on Monday, we will continue to do our best to support you and your children.
IMPORTANT: all year six places have been allocated, if you haven't had an e-mail within the last two days confirming your child's place, please do not come to school on Monday - thank you.

Hoping you have all had a good half term break. Thanks for all the lovely moments and work you have shared with us.
We have continued planning for a wider opening of school and additional key workers children will be joining us from next week.
Please read the information on the above tabs (Local Authority letter and Gig Mill re-opening letter 22.05.20). No further replies will be added to lists after 1st June 2020, as we will be finalising our risk assessment.

As I am sure you will have heard, the Government are putting plans in place for a possible phased return to school for some pupils in June. We do not know anymore than that at this moment in time. Please allow us time to be sent further guidance and we will communicate with you as soon as we know more details.
Thank you for your understanding, Mrs Hannaway.
Week Commencing 4th May 2020
Thank you to all of those children and families who have been trying out our new hello@ address. It is wonderful to see your super work, and thanks for sharing pictures too. Have a look at how fantastic you are on the Gig Mill Gallery!
Thank you everyone for your messages and ideas for the future. This week's messages from your teachers will be on the year group pages with this week's ideas for home learning. Each Friday with will now appear for the following week going forwards.
Next week in school we would have been dressing up in red, white and blue as part of our celebrations for 75th anniversary of VE day, so we are sending you some ideas and we can still join in together - send us your photos!
Each week we will be sharing or trying something new, so keep in touch.
Thank you for all your continued support at this challenging time, take care and stay safe.

As Headteacher, I hope that our website will give you some idea of what our school is like. However, I
hope you will come to visit us in person to see our wonderful school in action.
Gig Mill strives to provide the best possible education for your child. An education where each child feels valued, cared for and motivated to achieve their very best. We have high expectations and we aim to develop in our children a real sense of belonging along with high levels of self esteem and confidence. Whilst recognising that our pupils need to be equipped with key skills in English and Maths, we strongly feel that they also need to develop a real passion for learning and we try to enhance this learning through a whole range of experiences both within and outside the classroom environment through an exciting and vibrant curriculum.
We work in partnership. Governors, staff, parents and children all help to make this happen. By working together, we move forward and create a nurturing environment and opportunities for all our children to succeed.
Ours is a happy, secure, purposeful environment. Why not visit the school? We are an open, friendly school and parents and visitors are always welcomed. I look forward to meeting you.
