New Starters at Gig Mill

Welcome to the New Starters page where you will find information you need before your child joins our Gig Mill family.

Please note that if you have not completed our online New Starter Form, please contact the school office on 01384 818600 so that we are able to e-mail a link to this initial form for you.

General Information

Uniform - A reminder of what will you need and where you can purchase it from.

[Note: Please don't worry about what 'house colour' your child will need for PE T-shirts, this 

information will be given to you when your child starts. However, if your child has a sibling

already in school, then your child will be placed in the same house]

OSCA Club - Breakfast and After-School Club at Gig Mill Primary (Reception up to Year 6)
[Please note that until we have further guidance from the Government (due in August), we are unfortunately, unable to confirm whether OSCA will be running in September and in what capacity - however, if you do want to put your child's name down, use the contact section on the OSCA page to register interest.

Electronic copies of forms (paper copies will be given to you in September)

Below are online versions of all the forms we would ordinarily be giving to you at this time of year for you to complete for various permissions etc.

However, as this is not possible at the moment - these forms will be given to you when your child starts with us, but they are useful for you to read and be aware of. In the meantime, and if you have any queries, please contact us at  

Birth Certificate/Parental Responsibility Check - We will be asking you in September to bring in your child's full birth certificate so that we can fulfil our admissions requirements by checking the name, date of birth and who has parental responsibility for your child. Please note we do not make copies of your certificate or need to keep it for any reason.

Pupil Premium Grant - A letter explaining Pupil Premium grant. If, after reading, you think that your child may qualify, we strongly advise you to apply online, the online application and further details of eligibility is available by clicking here and can be done at any time. (Reception to Year Six)

Data Protection Information - In line with data protection laws, we have to have your consent for your child to access online applications. (Nursery and all year groups)

Photo Permissions - Again, in line with data protection laws, we need your permission in order to use your child's image. A lengthy form, but the good news is, that unless you change your mind, this will last throughout your child's time in our school. (Nursery and all year groups)

Food tasting - Throughout the year, your child will have the opportunity to taste a variety of foods, therefore we ask you to let us know about any allergies (Nursery and all year groups)

School Meals - The new menu will be uploaded just as soon as it is finalised but in the meantime, we have included a link to our previous current menu for you to take a look at the variety of options we offer. (Reception to Year Six)

Asthma Policy - Please note, you will only be required to complete this form if your child uses an inhaler. (Nursery and all year groups)
